Ukraine's Healthcare Gap: Lack of Helicobacter Pylori Antibiotic Susceptibility Tests
Concerns about the lack of tests for antibiotic susceptibility of Helicobacter pylori in Ukraine have been raised by a local endoscopist. Dr. Vasyl Ornat, from Izyaslav, explained in a recent video that the absence of these tests is due to the uncontrolled distribution of antibiotics. "In our country, such tests are not typically performed," Dr. Ornat stated. He further explained that this lack of control has led to decreased effectiveness of antibiotics against the bacteria. Some other countries have implemented national programs to address antibiotic susceptibility, highlighting the need for similar initiatives in Ukraine. The situation underscores the importance of responsible antibiotic use and the need for improved healthcare infrastructure to combat antibiotic resistance.
