Brazil Aims for Global Green Hydrogen Leadership
Brazil's Green Hydrogen Push: A New York Presentation Unveils Ambitious Plans. Brazil is making strides towards becoming a global leader in the green energy transition. During Brazilian Week 2025 in New York City, Julio Meneguini, scientific director of the Center for Research on Innovation in Greenhouse Gases, presented a detailed plan for large-scale green hydrogen production. This project, a collaboration between USP, research centers, and the private sector, aims to establish Brazil as a major player in the international clean fuel market. "Brazil possesses one of the most competitive scenarios in the world for the production of this clean and sustainable fuel," Meneguini stated during his presentation. The USP pilot project, the first of its kind globally, will produce 100 kg of hydrogen daily, initially for testing in vehicles and public transport. This initiative underscores Brazil's commitment to sustainable energy and its potential to become a significant force in the global green hydrogen market.
