Expert Addresses Environmental Impact of 'Dubai Chalaco' Project in Callao
Lima, Peru – Architect and university professor Daniel Sandoval recently provided insights into the potential environmental impact of the ambitious "Dubai chalaco" project in Callao. Speaking on Panamericana Televisión, Sandoval confirmed that a preliminary environmental impact study for the project has already been submitted to the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Environment. Sandoval emphasized that the project, which involves reclaiming land from the sea, must carefully consider its effects on marine flora and fauna in the waters of La Punta and Callao. He highlighted the importance of implementing technological and architectural solutions, drawing parallels with successful projects in other countries, to mitigate potential contingencies such as tsunamis. While acknowledging the inherent challenges of such a large-scale undertaking, Sandoval expressed confidence that with proper engineering and architectural planning, the project can proceed without causing significant negative environmental consequences.
