Trump Deportation Flights Passenger Data Leaked in Major Hack
Hackers Leak Passenger Data from Trump Deportation Flights Washington, D.C. - In a significant breach of security, hackers have leaked passenger lists from flights used to deport migrants, adding to concerns about the Trump administration's handling of sensitive information. The leak follows a previous incident where military attack plans were shared via the Signal app. The hackers targeted another app used by Trump officials, Telemessage, a Signal clone, obtaining passenger lists and other sensitive data. Joseph Cox, co-founder of 404 Media, a group that investigated the hacks, stated, "GlobalX is one of the primary airlines ICE uses to deport people. The hacker obtained flight information, which is publicly available, but also passenger lists, which are not." The leaked data includes the names of individuals deported to various countries. Cox highlighted the risk of centralizing sensitive data, as seen with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative. He warned that such centralization increases vulnerability to hacks and bypasses data-sharing protocols. The incident underscores the need for enhanced cybersecurity measures within government agencies and the potential risks associated with the consolidation of personal data. The investigation is ongoing.
