China Opens Doors Wider: Visa-Free Travel Expanded to 43 Countries
China Expands Visa-Free Entry to 43 Countries, Signaling Commitment to Global Openness BEIJING – China has significantly expanded its unilateral visa-free program, extending it for the first time to Latin American and Caribbean nations. This move, announced by Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, increases the number of countries eligible for visa-free entry to China to 43. The expansion underscores China's stated commitment to fostering greater international cooperation and economic openness. The announcement comes alongside impressive statistics illustrating a surge in foreign visitors to China. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, China saw over 9 million visits from foreigners, a remarkable 40 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, more than 18,000 foreign-invested companies were established in China during the first four months of 2025, reflecting a 12.1 percent year-on-year growth. "These figures demonstrate China's firm resolve in expanding high-level opening up," stated Lin Jian in a press conference. He further emphasized China's intention to continuously improve entry policies and add more countries to the visa-free list, welcoming more foreign friends to experience China's diverse offerings. The expansion of China's visa-free program and the substantial increase in foreign investment and tourism represent a positive step towards greater global economic integration and cooperation.
