Kenya: Government Confirms Full Payment of School Capitation Nairobi, Kenya – In a significant development for Kenya's education sector, Treasury Principal Secretary (PS) Chris Kiptoo has confirmed the full disbursement of funds allocated for schools' capitation. This announcement, made public on May 28th, 2025, addresses concerns about timely funding for the academic year. Kiptoo stated, "We are up-to-date when it comes to the release of funds to schools." He detailed the breakdown of payments, totaling 22 billion KSHS. The funds covered primary and secondary schools across the country. The PS highlighted the timely release of 54.6 billion KSHS for secondary and 30.4 billion KSHS for junior secondary education, with further payments of 11.6 billion KSHS and 8.9 billion KSHS made on May 19th, 2025. The timely release of these funds is expected to alleviate financial pressures on schools and ensure the continuity of education for students nationwide. Parents and educators will welcome this confirmation, ensuring students can continue their education without disruption. The Ministry of Education is prepared to address any queries regarding the receipt of funds by individual schools.
