43,000-Year-Old Fingerprint Found in Spain: A Forensic Milestone
Segovia, Spain – In a groundbreaking discovery, the Spanish National Police's scientific unit has identified a 43,000-year-old human fingerprint. The print, found on a stone, was revealed using advanced non-invasive optical techniques, including multispectral and hyperspectral cameras. The process, which involved painstaking work over three months, has been hailed as a major historical milestone. "We were truly shocked," said Samuel Miralles, a member of the unit's central crime scene investigation team. "We didn't expect to find something like this with our forensic techniques." Encarnación Nieva, from the ABIS section, added that the discovery was remarkable not only due to the age of the print but also because it's unlike their daily work. The meticulous analysis revealed 13 characteristic points across three different typologies, confirming the fingerprint's authenticity. This discovery showcases the potential of forensic science in uncovering historical evidence and adds a new layer to our understanding of early human life.
