Satu Mare, Romania – Florin Ionuț Barbu, Romania's Minister of Agriculture, visited Satu Mare today to engage with local farmers and outline an ambitious new plan for the country's agricultural sector. During his visit, Minister Barbu emphasized the importance of collaboration between local and central administrations to achieve sustainable development in agriculture. He highlighted the government's commitment to providing state aid where it is most needed, particularly in areas facing significant challenges. 'I refuse to be constrained by documents issued by the European Commission that do not align with our national agricultural needs,' stated Minister Barbu, underscoring his intent to advocate for Romanian farmers' interests at the European level. He added, 'The common agricultural policy must remain separate from cohesion funds.' The visit included tours of various agricultural facilities, showcasing modern farm machinery, livestock, and grain storage silos. Mircea Govor, a PSD deputy, also addressed the farmers, assuring them of continued support and solutions for their issues.
