Mother Fights Eviction by Daughter in Dominican Republic
A mother in the Villa Liberación sector of the Dominican Republic is facing eviction from her own home, a house she built with her life savings, at the hands of her own daughter. Josefina Rodríguez claims her daughter's relationship with Enrique Abreu Hidalgo has drastically changed her daughter's behavior toward her. "She wants me out to make room for Enrique, who isn't even the father of her children," Rodríguez said, her voice breaking. Rodríguez recounts selling everything she owned to build the house and raise her children. The situation escalated to the point where Rodríguez received a court summons and a restraining order upon her daughter's return from Philadelphia, where she had been for medical treatment. "Her greeting was a summons to the prosecutor's office," Rodríguez stated, her eyes welling up. This case highlights the painful complexities of family relationships and the legal challenges faced by vulnerable individuals. It serves as a reminder of the importance of family support and the need for legal protection in such disputes. The case is ongoing.
