Proton e.MAS 5 Unveiled: Malaysia's First Affordable EV Promises Superior Drivability and Comfort
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Proton has officially unveiled its new electric vehicle, the e.MAS 5, positioning it as Malaysia's first affordable EV. The company is actively promoting the vehicle's superior driving dynamics and comfort ahead of its official launch and booking event. Early drivers of the Proton e.MAS 5 have shared positive feedback regarding its performance. Keshy Dhillon, one of the evaluators, stated, "I have spent some time driving the Proton e.MAS 5. The driving dynamics of the car—it's comfortable, it's refined, and the suspension soaks about everything the road throws up at it. And what else could you want from an EV? Because the Proton e.MAS 5 gives you just about anything that you want." Another driver, Nazz Abdullah, highlighted the car's suitability for long journeys: "I have driven the car in a long distance on the highway. It's very comfortable and does not make me feel tired. It can be driven in a long distance, for example, from Penang to Kedah or from Penang to Ipoh with no issues; you can even sleep safe and sound." Eu Jin from Autobuzz.my also praised the car's handling, attributing its control and feedback to its rear-wheel-drive system. "The other thing I quite like about the new Proton e.MAS 5 is how it drives. And I think this is partly due to the fact that it's a rear-wheel drive. So unlike front-wheel drive cars, where the front wheels are driving the car while also turning the car, this one, the rear wheels are driving the car while the front wheels are turning. So this, as a result, I think gives you a lot more control of the car and better feedback." The Proton e.MAS 5 is presented as a stylish and accessible EV, with bookings now open. The official livestream event for the vehicle is scheduled for October 4th, 2025, at 8 PM.
