International Tender Announced for Guaymas Port Modernization
Guaymas Port in Sonora, Mexico, is set to undergo significant modernization following the announcement of an international tender for its administration. The project, confirmed by Alfonso Durazo, aims to improve the port's infrastructure to handle larger vessels and boost economic activity in the region. "This is not just a milestone for the port's history, but for Sonora's history," stated the speaker at a recent press conference. Improvements include a 5-kilometer channel dredging, creating a 16-meter deep channel to accommodate larger ships. The port's strategic location near the US border and existing four-lane highway and rail access makes it an attractive investment opportunity. This modernization will transform Guaymas into a significant trade hub, fostering economic growth in the region and solidifying Sonora's position in international trade.
