Record-High Voter Turnout Marks 2025 Philippine Midterm Elections
The Philippines recorded a historic voter turnout in the 2025 midterm elections, reaching 81.65%, according to data released by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). This represents a significant increase compared to previous midterm elections in 2019 (75.9%) and 2013 (77.31%). A total of 55.87 million Filipinos cast their ballots out of 68.43 million registered voters. "This high turnout demonstrates the strong engagement of Filipino citizens in their democratic process," said a COMELEC spokesperson. The election also marked the first time COMELEC utilized the South Korean firm Miru Systems as its election technology provider. The final turnout figure is expected to rise once the votes from overseas Filipino voters are included.
