Bolivia Faces Fuel Shortage Amidst Allegations of Sabotage Bolivia is currently grappling with a fuel shortage, with long lines forming at gas stations across the country. The president of YPFB (Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos), Armin Dorgathen, has blamed the crisis on sabotage and threats against fuel transport companies. "Some companies are cooperating, bringing fuel from Paraguay without problems, while others refuse, citing threats," stated Dorgathen in a recent interview with Red Uno. He appealed for the public not to politicize the situation. The shortage is particularly acute in the southeastern region, where four out of nineteen companies contracted to transport fuel have refused to do so. Dorgathen explained that this refusal stems from a dispute over pricing and contracts. He further revealed that the country is relying on fuel imports from Paraguay and Argentina to compensate for the shortfall. The situation is further complicated by logistical difficulties. Dorgathen mentioned that due to climatic conditions, shipments from Peru have been delayed. Despite these challenges, he assured the public that efforts are underway to resolve the crisis. The government is working to ensure a stable fuel supply to all regions of the country. The fuel shortage is causing significant disruption to daily life in Bolivia, impacting transportation and various economic sectors. The government's response and the ongoing investigations into the alleged sabotage will be crucial in determining the long-term effects of this crisis.
