Teenager's Body Found After Six-Day Search in Río Grande; Family Mourns Tragic Drowning
SANTA CRUZ, BOLIVIA – The community of Santa Cruz is mourning the loss of 15-year-old Carlos Daniel Rodríguez, whose body was recovered on Saturday after a six-day search operation in the Río Grande. Carlos had gone missing on Monday while fishing with his family. The wake for Carlos Daniel is currently being held in the Los Pinos neighborhood, where family, friends, and neighbors have gathered to pay their last respects. His sister shared the heartbreaking details of the incident, explaining that the family had visited the river to celebrate a birthday. "My brother wanted to go fishing," she recounted, her voice heavy with grief. She described how Carlos Daniel was swept away by the strong current. "He got desperate and instead of swimming with the current, he swam against it. He couldn't save himself." Efforts by family members to rescue him were unsuccessful due to the river's depth and strong flow. The family plans to hold the burial later today.
