Cochabamba, Bolivia – Ruth Nina, a prominent leader of the Pan-Bol political party, has been placed in preventive detention for 90 days at the San Sebastián Women's Prison in Cochabamba. The decision came after she was accused of obstructing electoral processes, issuing threats, and public instigation to commit crimes.Upon her transfer, Nina defiantly stated, "It's an honor to go to prison for our people, for our women, so they are never silenced again."Her legal team, including attorney Gabriel Delgadillo, has strongly criticized the judge's determination, labeling it as "totally unjust" and "disproportionate." Delgadillo emphasized that the alleged acts of obstruction and threats would be investigated, but questioned the timing of the detention relative to upcoming electoral processes. He confirmed that an appeal has been filed to seek Nina's immediate release.Meanwhile, a group of Ruth Nina's followers gathered to express their solidarity and support. They held signs and voiced their commitment to their leader, asserting that her voice would not be silenced despite the legal action.
