Dramatic Police Chase in Ibagué Ends in Apprehension; Two Officers Injured

Ibagué, Colombia was the scene of a dramatic police chase on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, when a 22-year-old driver, identified only as Escobar, evaded a police checkpoint in a red Jeep Rubicon. The ensuing chase involved multiple collisions, with Escobar's vehicle striking at least three other cars, including two taxis. Two police officers were injured when they were run over by the fleeing vehicle. The chase ended at the Reservas de El Vergel residential complex where Escobar was apprehended. A passenger in one of the taxis involved captured the chaos on video, her panicked cries of "¡Frene por favor, estoy fracturada!" echoing the fear and tension of the situation. The driver of the taxi was taken to a medical center after suffering a nervous breakdown. Escobar is now in police custody and faces multiple charges.
