MÁV Allocates 2 Billion Forints to Compensate Passengers for Delays
Hungarian Railways to Compensate Passengers for Summer Delays Budapest, Hungary – The Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) announced a new initiative to compensate passengers for significant delays experienced during the recent summer months. The company has allocated 2 billion forints (approximately 5.2 million USD) to refund passengers for delays exceeding 20 minutes. This decision comes in response to widespread complaints about unreliable train services during the peak summer travel season. "We understand the frustration of our passengers who experienced significant delays during the summer," said Hegyi Zsolt, CEO of MÁV, in an interview with RTL Híradó. "This compensation program is a demonstration of our commitment to improving service quality and ensuring passenger satisfaction." The program is expected to benefit thousands of passengers who faced lengthy delays due to various factors, including track maintenance and increased demand. The MÁV will automatically process refunds for eligible passengers, based on their ticket purchases and recorded delays. This initiative represents a positive step towards improving the reliability and accountability of Hungary's national railway system.
