ISTANBUL, Turkey – As of June 29, 2025, Turkish authorities continue to battle eight active forest fires across the country, following a challenging two-day period that saw 150 blazes erupt. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Forestry announced that 142 of these fires, which occurred on June 27 and 28, have been successfully brought under control. Active fires are currently reported in Sakarya/Bilecik, Manisa/Akhisar, Balıkesir/Havran, Balıkesir/Kepsut, Kahramanmaraş/Pazarcık, Bolu/Göynük, Gaziantep/Nurdağı, and Bilecik/Osmaneli. Firefighting teams are demonstrating maximum effort, utilizing both ground and air assets, including 27 aircraft, 105 helicopters, and 14 UAVs. Nearly 6,000 fire tenders, 4,796 fire pools, and 776 observation towers are also in use. The operation involves 25,000 forest heroes and 131,000 volunteers, all working tirelessly to contain the remaining fires and protect the nation's forests. Developments are being monitored instantly as efforts continue to bring all fires under control.
