Known affectionately as "El Perro de los Entierros" (The Dog of the Burials), Moro was believed to possess an extraordinary ability to foretell death. Local accounts describe Moro appearing silently at the homes of individuals who were soon to pass away, remaining there patiently until the tragic event occurred. Following the death, Moro would then join the funeral procession, accompanying the grieving families on their journey to the cemetery. This remarkable loyalty and seemingly supernatural intuition made Moro an integral, albeit somber, part of the community's life. However, Moro's story took a dark turn in 1983 when he was reportedly killed by a group of individuals, an act that deeply saddened and angered the townspeople. Despite his tragic end, the residents of Fernán Núñez ensured that Moro's memory would endure. A statue was erected in his honor, a lasting tribute to a dog who became a symbol of loyalty, mystery, and the unique bond between humans and animals. Even today, some locals claim that if one passes by the statue at night, Moro's faint whimper can still be heard, perpetuating his legend and reminding new generations of the extraordinary dog who once watched over their town.
