Uganda: Government Clarifies Roles of Police and National Center for Family
Uganda: Clarification on the Roles of the Police and the National Center for Family Kampala, Uganda – Recent discussions have raised questions about the overlapping responsibilities of the Uganda Police Force and the National Center for Family (NCF). To clarify the situation, Sanyuka TV interviewed Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, who provided insights into the distinct roles of these two entities. According to Hon. Suubi, "The role of the NCF does not override that of the police; each entity continues to carry out its responsibilities." He further explained that the establishment of the NCF is outlined in Article 71 of the Ugandan constitution, while its operationalization is detailed in Article 20 of the Political Parties and Organizations Act. This ensures a clear division of labor and prevents confusion or conflict in their respective functions. This clarification is crucial for both government agencies and the public, ensuring a smooth and efficient system for addressing societal issues and maintaining law and order in Uganda. The clear distinction between the NCF and the police will likely contribute to better coordination and improved service delivery.
