‘Why are you shrinkflating it?’: Sam’s Club shopper buys 24-pack box of Smucker…
One woman is calling out Sam’s Club and Smucker’s for shrinkflation after she noticed a vast difference in her Uncrustables.
A recent video circulating online has brought attention to a potential case of "shrinkflation" involving Smucker's Uncrustables sold at Sam's Club. In the video, a consumer, identified as Sarah, presents a new box of Smucker's Uncrustables, labeled "New Mega Pack," which states each peanut butter and grape jelly sandwich contains 260 calories. However, she then displays a package from an older box, revealing that the previous version of the same sandwich contained 320 calories. This discrepancy suggests a reduction in product size or content, despite the new packaging's "Mega Pack" designation. Sarah expressed her frustration, stating, "Why are you shrinkflating my Uncrustables?" She explained that she purchases the product specifically because of its prior larger size and filling. "The whole reason I buy them in the first place is because they're fatter and they have more filling," she said. The consumer's video highlights a common concern among shoppers who notice products diminishing in size or quantity while prices remain constant or increase. Neither Sam's Club nor Smucker's has yet issued a public statement regarding the claims made in the video.
