A recent video circulating online has raised significant concerns regarding the alleged unauthorized demolition of the White House East Wing. Sarah Boardman, an experienced interior designer and general contractor, posted a video asserting that the ongoing demolition lacks proper permits, a claim that, if true, would represent a serious breach of building regulations and historical preservation protocols. Boardman, who has worked in major cities like Chicago and holds a Class B contractor's license, emphasized the severe penalties she would face for undertaking such work without permits. "I would be fined out of existence if I demoed a building like this," she stated in her video. She pointed out that the White House, a historical landmark, likely contains hazardous materials such as asbestos and mold, which require specialized handling and permits for demolition. The architect firm McCrery Architects and Clark Construction have been identified by Boardman as involved parties. She urged the public to contact the Department of Buildings in D.C. to inquire about the alleged illegal construction. The White House East Wing, part of a complex first built in 1798 with major renovations in 1814, 1840, and extensive work in the 1950s-70s, is a structure of immense historical importance. The lack of transparency surrounding the demolition has led to public concern and calls for accountability.
