São Paulo Expands Flu Vaccination to All Residents Over Six Months Old São Paulo, Brazil – In a significant public health initiative, the city of São Paulo has expanded its flu vaccination program to include all residents over six months old. The free vaccination campaign, which began on May 19th, 2025, aims to increase immunization rates and prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses during the peak season. Initially, only 25% of the priority group, including the elderly, children aged 6 months to 6 years, and pregnant women, received the flu vaccine. Now, all residents above six months of age can receive the vaccine. "To prevent common respiratory diseases during this time of year, the city decided to expand the immunization to all people over six months old," explained a health official in a recent interview. Vaccination is available at 479 Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBSs) from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, residents can get vaccinated at AMAs/UBSs Integradas during the same hours. The initiative underscores the city's commitment to public health and its proactive approach to combating the spread of infectious diseases. Along with the expanded vaccination program, the city is also promoting simple preventative measures, such as frequent handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes, to further reduce the risk of infection. The expanded vaccination program is a welcome step in protecting the health of São Paulo's residents and promoting community well-being.
