Student Drowns During Graduation Photoshoot in Brazil

A 17-year-old student from Russas, Nicolas Araújo Camassola, tragically lost his life while participating in a graduation photoshoot at Pontal de Maceió beach in Fortim, Ceará, Brazil. The incident occurred on the evening of June 5th, 2025. According to witnesses, Nicolas, who was with friends taking graduation photos, decided to enter the sea. He was submerged for approximately fifteen minutes before being pulled from the water. Bystanders immediately initiated CPR, and emergency services arrived promptly to continue resuscitation efforts for about 50 minutes, but unfortunately, Nicolas could not be revived. The young man also worked as a model for a local agency. His school has suspended classes in mourning. The local police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety and the unpredictable nature of ocean currents.
