Last-Minute Changes to Catalonia's University Entrance Exams Spark Anxiety
Catalonia's University Entrance Exams: Students and Teachers Grapple with Sudden Changes The 2025 Selectivitat exams in Catalonia, Spain, have brought significant changes, leaving students and teachers feeling unprepared. The new exam format, implemented with little advance notice, has created considerable anxiety. Xavier Garriga, a school coordinator, explains, "The changes leave more variability, meaning everyone takes the same exam." This contrasts with previous years, where students had choices. Students Maria Alfama and Laia Ortega voiced concerns. Maria stated, "In November, teachers didn't know what topics to cover, and even now, during review classes, some still haven't finished the curriculum." Despite the challenges, Barcelona libraries are offering extended hours, and universities provide an interactive online test prep tool. The unexpected changes highlight the need for more transparent communication and timely implementation of educational reforms. Students can access their exam locations and times through the University Access Portal, starting June 6th.
