Kazakhstan Children's Day: Outrage over Price Gouging
On International Children's Day, a wave of outrage swept through Kazakhstan after reports of exorbitant price increases on essential goods. Deputy Anas Bakkozhaev, in a parliamentary session, voiced his condemnation of these practices. "Yesterday, countless people lost their money," Bakkozhaev stated, "Children's eyes were filled with disappointment because their grandparents couldn't help them, lacking the funds. Prices were inflated by thousands." Bakkozhaev recounted instances of significant price hikes on everyday items, highlighting the unfair advantage taken by businesses that simultaneously evade taxes. One example he cited was a toy that usually costs 1000 tenge being sold for 3000 tenge. The incident sparked a public debate on economic fairness and corporate ethics in Kazakhstan. Further investigations into the matter are expected.
