Trujillo Student Survives Attack by Sicarios: Laredo Residents Fear Rising Crime

A young man was shot by sicarios in the district of Laredo, Trujillo, Peru on June 7th, 2025. Jonathan Jose Joel Wing Malaver, 25, was shot while trying to enter his home. The assailants followed him and continued firing. He was rushed to Hospital Belén de Trujillo where a portion of his lung was removed. A local resident stated, "I'm worried because there's a lot of insecurity; you can't go out peacefully. You always have to be on the alert." Police are investigating and the community expresses concern about the increase in crime in the previously tranquil district.
