A recent video posted by user @stmigue has ignited a discussion online after a couple shared their "disappointing" experience at Gulpiyuri Beach in Asturias, Spain. The video, which has garnered nearly half a million views, shows the couple expressing their dismay at finding the unique inland beach devoid of water, describing it as a "puddle" and "filth." "We just came to Gulpiyuri beach, or whatever it's called," the man states in the video, "and what happened to the beach? What did you think?" His partner responds, "I don't even know how to describe what I felt. It's a puddle, not a beach." The man adds, "It's a spit they've thrown there, and people are bathing in that spit. What rubbish!" The couple's frustration stems from a perceived discrepancy between online images of the picturesque beach and their visit, which coincided with low tide. Gulpiyuri is known for being a small, inland beach that fills with seawater through underground tunnels during high tide. The video's comments section quickly filled with reactions, largely from locals and informed users, explaining the natural phenomenon. One commenter wrote, "Do you know what tides are? The peculiarity of this beach is that it only appears when the tide is high... if you read about this beach, they explain it well. Without tide, there is no beach." Another added, "When one goes to a place, one informs oneself to know how to get there, the best visiting hours, etc. The reality is that the need for protagonism should not override respect for the places one visits." The incident highlights a common challenge for tourists visiting natural attractions with varying conditions.
