KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – In a bustling night market, a family's profound love and unwavering dedication shine through their daily struggles. Pak Cik, a resilient husband, continues to care for his ailing wife, Mak Cik, despite battling stage 5 kidney disease himself. Mak Cik, suffering from severe diabetes, has endured leg amputations, lost her ability to speak and walk, and now relies on a feeding tube. "She was healthy, I loved her. Now that she's sick, I love her even more," Pak Cik shared, his eyes reflecting deep affection. He revealed his difficult decision to forgo dialysis, stating, "Once I start dialysis, it'll be hard to take care of my wife. We live on the 4th floor with no lift. I carry her down myself." Their 21-year-old daughter, who works part-time to support her parents, has put her dream of becoming a teacher on hold. "My parents were sick, so I had to take care of them," she explained, adding that she misses simple family meals and normal times. Despite the hardships, she remains strong for her parents. "I hope they get well soon and are always happy," she concluded, embodying the family's enduring spirit.
