Vilnius, Lithuania – A prominent Belarusian opposition figure, appearing in a video from Vilnius, has issued a direct challenge to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko regarding the release of political prisoners. The man, wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with 'I am the first gentleman of Belarus', responded to Lukashenko's recent comments suggesting that Belarusian exiles are unwilling to accept released prisoners due to the financial burden. In his address, the opposition figure asserted, 'We need every single one of them, healthy, sick, young, old – everyone.' He vehemently denied the claim that those abroad are uninterested in their compatriots, stating, 'If you, Alexander, are ready to keep your word sometimes, ready to release prisoners on the condition that they immediately leave the country, then I have already ordered 20 buses.' He further added that Belarusians would raise the required funds 'in an hour,' emphasizing, 'This is not about money; this is about our people.' The video concludes with a direct call for Lukashenko to specify the pickup location at the border.
