Ukraine Simplifies Ultrasound Access: New Rules Explained
Ukraine Healthcare Update: New Ultrasound Referral Rules Explained Ukraine has recently updated its regulations regarding ultrasound referrals. According to resolution 1503, implemented since March 19, 2025, some ultrasound procedures no longer require a referral from a family doctor. This change affects specific types of ultrasounds, including those of the prostate and blood vessels. However, referrals remain necessary for other procedures such as abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds. "Since March 19th, 2025, there have been changes to ultrasound referral requirements," explains Dr. Bohdana Tsymbalyuk, a family doctor featured in a recent video. "Certain types of ultrasounds, like prostate and vascular ultrasounds, no longer need a referral." The new regulations aim to streamline healthcare access and improve efficiency. However, patients are advised to check with their healthcare providers for clarification on specific procedures. Free ultrasound services are also available at certain clinics, but prior registration is required. This update underscores Ukraine's ongoing efforts to modernize its healthcare system and improve access to essential medical services for its citizens.
