Talne's 'Fortress of Life': A Haven for Ukraine's War Veterans
Talne Opens Veteran Support Center: 'Fortress of Life' Offers Healing and Camaraderie A new center dedicated to supporting Ukrainian war veterans has opened its doors in Talne, Cherkasy Oblast. The "Fortress of Life" center offers a range of free services aimed at both physical and psychological rehabilitation. Funded by a 3.5 million hryvnia grant from the city budget, the center is already making a difference in the lives of veterans. Located in a repurposed kindergarten, the center provides access to a gym, opportunities for relaxation through fish therapy and phyto-barrel treatments, and a comfortable space for social interaction. Vasyl Gavrikov, a veteran who has already used the center's facilities, shared, "I came here, my fellow soldiers embraced me, we talked about various things. We didn't even discuss the war, we just talked, and it made life easier." Another veteran, Oleksandr Polishchuk, emphasized the importance of such support, stating, "It's very difficult; you need someone to help you get out of that state, from what's on your soul." The center's comprehensive approach to veteran care is commendable. It demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of those who have served their country, providing not only physical therapy but also crucial psychological support and a sense of community. The "Fortress of Life" is a beacon of hope and healing for veterans in Talne.
