Madrid, Spain - As winter draws near, car owners are urged to pay close attention to the maintenance of their windshield wiper blades to ensure optimal visibility and safety. Juan José Ebenezer, founder of Talleres Ebenezer, recently shared crucial advice on preparing wipers for the colder months. "If you've been diligent with applying a plastic hydrator to your wipers during the summer, the rubber should already be in excellent condition," Ebenezer stated. He highlighted that this proactive approach helps maintain the rubber's elasticity and prevents it from drying out and cracking due to sun exposure and general wear over time. Ebenezer demonstrated how to inspect the wiper blades, advising drivers to gently feel the rubber to ensure it remains soft and free of cracks. He stressed the importance of keeping the entire wiper blade clean, as dirt and debris can scratch the windshield and prematurely deteriorate the rubber. "Always use a small cloth to clean the blades, and follow up with a plastic hydrator," he recommended. Furthermore, Ebenezer suggested that drivers should operate their windshield wipers regularly throughout the year, not just when it rains or the windshield is visibly dirty. "Using them periodically, both in summer and winter, helps maintain the rubber's flexibility and significantly increases its durability," he explained. These simple yet effective maintenance practices are vital for enhancing driving safety during the challenging weather conditions often experienced in winter.
