Amber Accuses MTV of Orchestrating Her Estranged Daughter’s On-Camera Message
“That was the end of it!” she said. “I was done after that. That was the last time I ever filmed with them.”
In a recent segment from MTV's "Teen Mom," Leah, daughter of cast member Amber Portwood, revealed her decision to confront her mother about their strained relationship. Leah expressed her long-standing feelings of discomfort and a desire to establish clear boundaries with Amber. During a candid conversation with her father, Gary Shirley, and another adult, Leah articulated her frustration, stating, "When I do see her, like, she acts like everything's perfectly fine." She further explained that Amber's public statements about their relationship did not align with her personal experience, particularly referencing a past online incident where Amber allegedly spoke about her. Leah emphasized that her decision to set boundaries was her own, countering any perception that her father influenced her. "It's not fair for her to blame my dad for something that I want," Leah stated. Her father, Gary, offered his full support, reiterating that the decision to send the text needed to come from Leah herself, acknowledging the difficulty of such a step. Leah then drafted a text message to Amber, which read: "This isn't meant to hurt you but I want to let you know that all these years it's been my decision to not have a relationship with you and nobody has influenced my decision. I feel like recent online activities have put me in a place where I need to communicate this to put a boundary between us for myself." Despite admitting to being scared, Leah expressed a strong desire to move forward and achieve closure. Her mother, Kristina Shirley, encouraged her, suggesting that this step could provide the necessary closure to "end that chapter" and begin "the Leah chapter." The video concludes with Leah sending the message, marking a significant moment in her journey to define her relationship with her mother.
