Polish Students Tackle Social Issues with Innovative Projects at National Olympiad
Polish Students Shine at 'Zwolnieni z Teorii' Olympiad Finals Warsaw, Poland – The finals of the "Zwolnieni z Teorii" (Dismissed from Theory) Olympiad concluded recently in Warsaw, showcasing remarkable projects by high school students from across Poland. The event highlighted the creativity and commitment of young people tackling pressing social issues. One standout project was a stress-reducing app, "Spirr," developed by Warsaw high school students. Wojciech Kotacz, a co-creator of the app, explained, "If we identify a serious problem, we suggest contacting a professional therapist or calling a support hotline for children and youth." This innovative solution addresses the mental health challenges faced by many young people. Another impactful project, "Kulki pod lupą" ("Balls under a Magnifying Glass"), creatively addressed testicular cancer awareness. Sebastian Świstek, a participant, emphasized, "We want to encourage everyone to take care of their health, because self-examination is really free and important." This initiative demonstrates the power of youth in raising awareness about crucial health issues. Students from Kartu also impressed with their "Odkryj swoją ziemię" ("Discover Your Land") project, promoting local patriotism. This project shows the diversity of initiatives undertaken by students participating in the Olympiad. The "Zwolnieni z teorii" foundation plays a vital role in supporting these young change-makers. Paula Bruszewska, the foundation's president, noted, "For me, the most important thing is the path of a young person who initially doesn't believe they can do something real in the adult world." The foundation's support fosters confidence and empowers students to make a difference. Over 160,000 students have participated in the 11 editions of the Olympiad. This event exemplifies the positive impact of youth involvement in social projects and the potential for positive change.
