Gdańsk Tram's Heartwarming Mission: A Campaign to Find Homes for Children in Need
Gdańsk Tram Campaign Addresses Foster Care Crisis in Poland A heartwarming initiative in Gdańsk, Poland, is tackling the critical shortage of foster families. Approximately 1800 children across Poland are currently waiting for placement in foster care. To address this urgent need, the Municipal Family Support Center launched a campaign using a specially decorated tram. The tram travels throughout the city, carrying social workers and informational materials about foster care. "We have a large number of children in need, and the situations are becoming increasingly difficult," says Regina Jedras, from the Gdańsk MOPS department responsible for foster care. The campaign aims to encourage potential foster parents to come forward, offering support and training throughout the process. Laura Staniszewska, a potential foster parent interviewed on the tram, shared her motivations: "It's something I've been thinking about for a while, and with the right support, I think I can do it." The campaign highlights the need for foster families while showcasing the support and training available to those who step forward. This initiative offers a beacon of hope for children in need and a model for other communities facing similar challenges.
