Bed Bug Infestation Prompts Emergency Measures at Madrid Detention Center
A bed bug infestation has forced officials at the Aluche Foreigners Internment Center (CIE) in Madrid's Carabanchel district to take swift action. Several detainees have reported numerous insect bites, leading to concerns about the living conditions within the facility. "Several detainees have reported numerous insect bites," stated a spokesperson for the CIE. In response, authorities have announced a comprehensive plan to eradicate the infestation. This includes a facility-wide fumigation, a temporary halt to new detainee admissions, and the expedited processing of pending repatriations to reduce the center's overall population. To further prevent the spread of the infestation, the CIE is also prohibiting the entry of new clothing. The source of the infestation is believed to be deteriorated mattresses and stored clothing. While the situation is concerning, the swift response from authorities demonstrates a commitment to addressing the problem and ensuring the well-being of those in the center.
