A recent video circulating online has shed light on the escalating issue of customer disrespect and store disarray within Australian retail spaces, specifically at Kmart. Posted by local content creator Emma, known as 'themumway_', the footage captures the shocking state of a Kmart store, with clothing, shoes, and other merchandise left scattered across the floor in multiple departments. Emma, who visited her local Kmart for a late-night shop, expressed profound disappointment and frustration at the scene. "I can't believe the state of the store tonight," she stated in her video, showcasing aisles filled with discarded items. "It's appalling that people are doing this not only to this store, but every Kmart across the country in varying degrees." The content creator highlighted the immense pressure placed on store staff, emphasizing that it is not their primary job to clean up after customers' negligence. "Yes, the staff work there, but no, it's not their job to clean up after your lazy mess day in, day out," Emma asserted, expressing sympathy for the employees who face such conditions nightly. She noted that staff often have to set up 'wet weather barricades' to prevent customers from tripping over the extensive clutter. Emma, who diligently hung back the items she tried on in the change room, shared the grateful reaction of a Kmart employee. "The look on her face was like, 'Oh my gosh, thank you so much, why did you do that?'" Emma recounted, adding, "Because that's the right thing to do so you don't have to." The video has resonated with many, sparking a conversation about consumer responsibility and the challenges faced by retail workers.
