UK PM Condemns Gaza Escalation, Demands Ceasefire and Increased Aid
The ongoing conflict in Gaza has prompted a strong response from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. In a parliamentary address, Starmer condemned the "horrifying" escalation of violence and expressed grave concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He stated, "We cannot allow the people of Gaza to starve." Starmer's statement underscores the urgency of the crisis and highlights the need for immediate action. He called for an immediate ceasefire, emphasizing it as the only effective means to free hostages currently held. Additionally, he reiterated the UK's opposition to Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The Prime Minister's demand for a significant increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza reflects the growing international pressure to address the worsening humanitarian crisis. While acknowledging recent announcements permitting limited food supplies, Starmer deemed these measures "totally and utterly inadequate."
