Israeli Airstrike Hits Beirut During Eid al-Adha, Sparking Tensions
Lebanese capital Beirut was hit by air strikes on Thursday, as people prepared to celebrate the Eid Al Adha holiday. Israel’s Defence Minister warned there will be “no calm” in Beirut until Hezbollah is disarmed. The Lebanese army accused Israel of ignoring an international ceasefire monitoring mechanism and bombing Beirut despite efforts to prevent the attack. "It's yet another threat from Israel that if it doesn't get what it wants, which is the disarmament of Hezbollah, such attacks will continue." said Jamie Prentis from The National. The clean-up operation is still underway. Israel claims the building was a Hezbollah drone factory, but has not provided concrete evidence. The timing of the attack, during a major religious holiday, has heightened tensions and concerns about the ongoing conflict.
