Missing Witnesses Hamper Inquest into Teen's Tenerife Death
A coroner's inquest into the death of 19-year-old Jay Slater, who died in Tenerife last July, has been hampered by the disappearance of key witnesses. Slater's body was discovered in a ravine after a 29-day search. Police have revealed that a convicted drug gang leader rented the Airbnb where Slater stayed after a music festival. Senior coroner Dr. James Adeley told Preston Coroner's Court, "We can't find them. They have stopped responding to phone calls." The police confirmed that they are also unable to locate a key witness, Kasim, a convicted ring leader of a London-based drugs gang. Jay's last known communication was a Snapchat post from the doorstep of Kasim's apartment. The inability to locate key witnesses highlights the challenges faced in investigating such cases and underscores the need for further investigation.
