
Orlando Utility Worker Faces Racist Threats and Slurs While On Duty
Orlando, FL - A recent incident in the Hunters Creek area of Orlando, Florida, has sparked outrage after a Black utility company project manager, Antavis Johnson, was subjected to racial slurs and death threats while performing his duties. Johnson was going door-to-door to inform residents about recent utility upgrades in the neighborhood when he was confronted by a white couple. The couple, identified by social media users as Steven Wiley and Cheryl Greggo, verbally assaulted Johnson, demanding he leave their property and using derogatory racial terms. The man also explicitly threatened to hang Johnson if he returned. The incident was recorded by Johnson. Police were called to the scene, but according to reports, no crime was deemed to have been committed regarding the threats. Following the traumatic encounter, Johnson has reportedly been scared to return to work. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support him and his three-year-old daughter, raising over $13,000 towards a $20,000 goal. Community members have expressed shock and anger over the blatant display of racism and the perceived lack of police action.
