Lima, Peru – The 'Grupo Terna' of the National Police of Peru (PNP) has revealed an unconventional yet effective strategy to combat drug trafficking, deploying officers disguised as beloved characters from the popular Mexican sitcom 'El Chavo del 8'. This innovative approach aims to catch criminals off guard by blending seamlessly into the community. Colonel Pedro Rojas, head of the Green Squadron division, explained the tactic during a demonstration. "We identify locations involved in illicit drug sales," Rojas stated. "To pass unnoticed, we characterize ourselves with popular figures, in this case, characters from 'El Chavo del 8'. This allows us to intervene without the suspects being aware." The video shows officers dressed as El Chavo, Doña Florinda, Professor Jirafales, and others, approaching a suspected drug house. Upon receiving a signal, they swiftly shed their disguises and apprehend individuals involved in drug sales. This strategy underscores the Peruvian police's adaptive methods in their ongoing fight against crime.
