Venezolano roba celulares todos los días y lo liberan: Remataba teléfonos a 400…
Fue condenado a una pena suspendida de un año, pero igual seguía delinquiendo.
Lima, Peru – A Venezuelan national, Anderson José Méndez Collantes, has been re-arrested in Lima on charges of cell phone theft, despite having received a suspended sentence for a similar crime just months prior. Collantes allegedly operated by posing as a delivery driver, targeting individuals in areas such as Jesús María, San Isidro, and the city center. Once stolen, the phones were reportedly resold in the Las Malvinas market for prices ranging from 400 to 500 soles. Authorities confirmed that Collantes was previously apprehended in April 2024 after stealing an iPhone from a Mexican citizen. Following that incident, he was handed a suspended sentence of one year and five months, contingent on him not committing further offenses. However, according to police, Collantes failed to comply with this condition and continued his criminal activities, with estimates suggesting he stole one to two phones daily. This re-arrest brings renewed attention to the persistent issue of cell phone theft and the subsequent illegal trade of stolen devices in markets like Las Malvinas, raising questions about the efficacy of current judicial measures and law enforcement efforts to curb such crimes.
