Louisiana Truck Driver Arrested in $10 Million Crash Fraud Scheme A truck driver in Lafayette, Louisiana, has been arrested as part of a $10 million insurance fraud scheme. Justin Ledet (45), Rayne Steven Thomas (38), and Alfred Onezine (37) were arrested on June 3rd following an investigation launched by the Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI). The investigation began after a trucking company reported suspected fraud related to a crash on January 19, 2025. According to Louisiana State Police, "Investigating Troopers determined that Ledet, Thomas, and Onezine conspired to stage a crash." Ledet intentionally struck a vehicle driven by Thomas, who was with Onezine and three children. The five occupants then filed claims totaling $10 million. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple stated, “At a time when Louisiana drivers are already paying the highest auto rates in the nation, these men put three children in harm’s way to try and make a quick buck." Ledet and Thomas were arrested on May 2nd for automobile insurance fraud. Onezine was arrested on May 29th on charges of cruelty to juveniles and automobile insurance fraud, plus resisting arrest. The successful arrests highlight the LDI and law enforcement's commitment to tackling insurance fraud.
