España es uno de los destinos más visitados del mundo, pero gran parte de los viajeros que recibe lo hacen bajo un modelo de bajo coste
Madrid, Spain - A recent video by content creator Turama has sparked discussion on Spain's tourism model, highlighting concerns over the impact of low-cost tourism. The video features footage of boisterous passengers on a flight from London to Ibiza, whose behavior was described as reminiscent of a school trip. Turama argues that this type of tourism, which is prevalent in regions such as the Canary Islands and Andalusia, does not contribute meaningfully to the local economy, interferes with the lives of residents, and is neither sustainable nor high-quality. He pointed out that despite receiving millions of tourists annually, these regions exhibit some of the highest unemployment rates in the country. In his commentary, Turama proposed a shift in policy regarding tourist taxes. Instead of imposing taxes directly on individual visitors, he suggested that these levies should be applied to airlines that facilitate low-cost travel to Spain. He noted that airports in Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca rank among the top globally for low-cost flight offerings. Turama posited that such a measure would lead to increased ticket prices, thereby segmenting the tourist demographic and potentially attracting visitors who contribute more positively to the local economy and society.
