Panama Cracks Down on E-cigarettes: Strict New Rules in Effect
Panama Bans E-cigarette Displays in Stores Starting August 2025 Panama City, Panama – A new Ministry of Health (MINSA) resolution will significantly impact the sale and visibility of electronic cigarettes in Panama. Starting August 1st, 2025, businesses are prohibited from displaying these products. This measure aims to curb vaping, especially among minors. "From August onwards, any commercial establishment selling these electronic devices cannot display them in a way that's accessible to customers," explained Alejandro Meneses, MINSA Environmental Sanitation Inspector. The ban extends to public areas, including bars, restaurants, and hotels. Jonathan Guerra, Head of Public Health, emphasized the dangers of nicotine. "Nicotine is a highly addictive substance that causes serious damage to organs and overall health," he stated, highlighting risks such as cardiovascular issues and increased blood pressure. The regulation applies to both nicotine and non-nicotine e-cigarettes. In December, all e-cigarette packaging will include a health warning. This comprehensive approach signifies Panama's commitment to public health and reducing vaping-related harm.
