Sarawak's Jom Explore: A Golden Opportunity for SPM Leavers
Sarawak's Jom Explore! Program Opens Doors to International Accounting Careers KUCHING, SARAWAK – A new initiative, Jom Explore! Why Not YP?, aims to boost awareness and participation among Sarawakian SPM graduates in professional accounting programs. The program, spearheaded by Yayasan Peneraju, offers a pathway to internationally recognized qualifications such as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Zatur Rawihah Omar, Executive Vice President of Strategy at Yayasan Peneraju, stated, "The program aims to increase awareness and encourage participation among SPM graduates to apply for professional accounting programs." She highlighted that it opens new avenues for Sarawakian SPM graduates to pursue further education in professional and internationally recognized accounting fields. The program provides financial assistance of up to RM150,000 to cover tuition fees, professional examination fees, and allowances. Students can choose the amount they need. One participant, Muhammad Iqbal Danish Latif, a student at MRSM Mukah, shared his perspective: "This program has opened our eyes to the possibilities of pursuing ACCA, which was previously difficult due to high costs and distance to study centers." The strategic location of the program between Sibu and Bintulu is intended to reach a wider population. The program is viewed as a golden opportunity for students from outside urban areas in Sabah and Sarawak to explore the field of professional accounting. The success of Jom Explore! Why Not YP? demonstrates the positive impact of initiatives designed to support the educational aspirations of students in underserved communities.
