Sarawak Unveils Ambitious Plan to Slash Hydrogen Production Costs Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – In a significant announcement at the ASEAN Women Economic Summit 2025, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed plans to drastically reduce the cost of hydrogen production within the state. The initiative involves leveraging new membrane technology to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption in the hydrogen production process. This collaboration builds upon previous work with Petronas and a Japanese company, demonstrating Sarawak's commitment to innovation in clean energy. This cost reduction has the potential to significantly benefit Sarawak's economy and contribute to Malaysia's broader clean energy goals. The project underscores Sarawak's proactive approach to environmental sustainability and economic development.
