Sarawak Forges Energy Partnership with Oxford Institute; MALBATT Celebrates Gawai and Kaamatan in Lebanon Sarawak, Malaysia, June 3, 2025 – In a significant development for sustainable energy, the Sarawak state government has announced a strategic partnership with the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES). This collaboration aims to bolster international cooperation in research and policy related to sustainable energy. The partnership is expected to lead to advancements in renewable energy technologies and sustainable energy practices in Sarawak. Meanwhile, in a heartwarming display of cultural pride, the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-12 celebrated the important festivals of Gawai and Kaamatan at their base in Tibnin, Lebanon. The soldiers, away from home, organized the event to maintain their connection to their cultural roots. "It was a way to keep our spirits high and remind ourselves of home," said one MALBATT soldier. The celebration included traditional dances, music, and food, bringing a touch of Sarawak and Sabah to the Lebanese landscape. The event showcased the resilience and spirit of the Malaysian soldiers serving abroad.
